Update: Are Comprehensive Plans Enforceable?
The legal case requiring the county to abide by the comprehensive planning and farmland preservation laws won in the circuit court in and has been upheld by the appellate court. Jefferson County board passed a resolution referring "Petition R4379A-22 [the Boat House rezone petition] back to the Planning & Zoning Committee for further proceedings to consider the findings required per Wis. Stat. §91.48 and make a recommendation to the County Board regarding the proposed rezoning". The county zoning committee voted to recommend passage of the Boat House rezoning petition by the whole county board. (1/27/2024)
The town of Concord is not involved in this legal appeal. This is included on the website because the outcome will impact the potential for new development in Concord: whether our comprehensive plan is followed--the plan that reflects Concord residents' wishes as expressed at meetings and on the survey.
